The Rx.com Mod Team has created this Service Play sub-forum in order to supply an area for Rx Service Play Posters to expand upon their posting topics without creating a logjam in the main forum where the three principle threads are maintained..

Posters can track services here if they care to but we will need any trackers to do so in an accurate and civil manner. We did not create this area for posters to ridicule or bash any services..

You can also discuss who is hot and who is not. The general state of the pay for plays industry and any other subject or topic related to service plays.

You can also create individual threads about specific services and discuss them freely but civilly. Again bashing and abusive treatment of any services will not be tolerated.

Please remember, this forum is not here for regular posters who cap their own games to post ther daily plays. Please use our individual sport forums to post your plays. Professional cappers (those that sell plays) must remain in the Site Promotion Forum.

The Rx.com will not tolerate posters that post false records of any services they track. Please be truthful if you decide to track a particular service.

Lastly The Rx Moderators are appealing to you our everyday posters to report any promotional threads or posts that are made by services or individual touts. No links or contact information to an individual service will be allowed. Just the name of the service. Please report any threads or posts that are promotional attempts by services and touts to use this forum to promote themselves..

Posters can easily report a promotional post by using the triangular Report-a-Post Icon at the bottom left of all post boxes. The poster name of any poster who reports a post that is out of line will be kept strictly confidential.

I will leave this thread open for a month to take questions and do my best to answer them. I will check in daily but am off on Wednesday and Thursday.

I hope this additional Service Play Forum will satisfy those posters that would like to widen the scope of topics relating to service plays and the industry in general to have their own threads. Mods will be liberal as possible regarding topics but this forum was specifically created to allow you more freedom to express your ideas regarding service plays and related subject matter. No off topic threads will be allowed.

Thank you, wilheim

Las Vegas Bowl: What bettors need to know

Las Vegas Bowl: Utah Utes vs. Boise State Broncos (-17, 60.5)

The Skinny: Boise State (11-1, 8-4 ATS) was eyeing a BCS bowl berth that didn’t materialize and rates as 17-point favorites over Utah. The Broncos saw their Rose Bowl dreams evaporate by losing a late-November contest to Nevada. Boise State worked out a deal to play in the Las Vegas Bowl when the Pac-10 didn’t have enough bowl-eligible squads to fill out its allotment.

Utah (10-2, 7-4-1 ATS) won its first eight games before getting routed by Texas Christian and Notre Dame. The Utes squeaked by San Diego State and Brigham Young to notch their third consecutive 10-win season. The ugly losses by a combined 65 points and the fact quarterback Jordan Wynn will miss the game due to a shoulder injury have many people viewing this contest as a mismatch.

Point Spread: Boise State -17. Over/under – 60.5. This spread opened as low -15 in favor of the Broncos and has since been bet up to its current stand. The total opened at 61.5 and has since been bet down a full point as of Monday afternoon.

Boise State’s Edge: The Broncos have a stingy defense that ranks fourth in the nation in both scoring defense (13.6 points per game) and total defense (259.3). Boise State was sixth against the run (103.5 yards per game) so Utah will be in for a challenge if it decides to depend on running backs Eddie Wide (683 yards, 11 touchdowns) and Matt Asiata (673 yards, eight TDs) to take pressure off quarterback Terrance Cain.

Utah’s Edge: Getting the ball into the hands of gamebreaker Shaky Smithson is crucial for a Utah upset. Smithson led the nation with a 19.7 punt return average (he returned two for touchdowns) and averaged 24.1 yards on kickoff returns. Smithson also averaged 14.9 yards per reception. Nevada’s explosive offense exposed some deficiencies in Boise State’s defense and the Utes have three weeks to prepare some gadget plays involving Smithson.

The Quarterbacks: Boise State’s Kellen Moore finished fourth in the Heisman Trophy balloting and makes up for a lack of arm strength with incredible precision and superb decision-making. Moore always seems to throw the football to the right receiver and has two big-time targets in Titus Young (65 receptions for 1,151 yards) and Austin Pettis (59 for 804). Moore has thrown for 3,506 yards and ranks fourth in the nation with 33 touchdown passes. Moore has been intercepted just five times.

Utah’s Cain has a 9-1 career record as a starter so it’s not like he’s a novice being thrown into an impossible situation. He’s not as polished as Wynn, but did complete 70.8 percent of his passes as a backup this season. He had six touchdown passes and was intercepted twice in 72 attempts.

NFL Prospects: Boise State – WR Titus Young, G Nate ******, DE Ryan Winterswyk, WR Austin Pettis, S Jeron Johnson. Utah – CB Brandon Burton, C Zane Taylor, G Caleb Schlauderaff.

Bowl history: Despite all its regular season success, Boise State has lost four of its last six bowl games. That fact gets overlooked because the Broncos’ two wins during that span came in Fiesta Bowls — the incredible overtime upset of Oklahoma four years ago and last season’s victory over TCU. Overall, Boise State is 6-4 in bowl games.

Utah has won nine consecutive bowl games, the second longest streak in NCAA history behind Florida State’s 11 straight bowl victories from 1985-95. Utah’s bowl winning streak includes a rout of Alabama in the Sugar Bowl two seasons ago and a Fiesta Bowl victory over Pittsburgh following the 2004 regular season. The Utes have two Las Vegas Bowl victories during the streak, including a win over USC in 2001. Overall, Utah is 12-3 in bowl games.

Etc.: In addition to quarterback Jordan Wynn, Utah will also be without starting left tackle John Cullen with a forearm injury. Boise State will be without middle linebacker Byron Hout (foot). … If it comes down to a clutch field goal, Utah’s Joe Phillips (32 of 36 over two seasons) rates as a better bet than Boise State’s Kyle Brotzman, who missed two chip-shot field goals in Boise State’s overtime loss to Nevada. Brotzman has made 14 of 20 field goals this season.

Ice picks: Wednesday's best NHL bets

Florida Panthers at Pittsburgh Penguins (-230, 5.5)

The Penguins are dangerous enough when it’s just Sidney Crosby rolling along on his 21-game point streak, but when Evgeni Malkin starts heating up, the rest of the league is in serious trouble.

Malkin looked like he was over a knee injury that kept him of a few games when he scored twice and added three assists in a 6-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday, snapping the club’s two-game skid. Malkin now has five goals and is seeing some time on a line with Crosby when Dan Bylsma is really looking stack his top line.

"(Malkin's) game was going to another level," Bylsma told reporters after Monday’s game. "Even Sidney Crosby was shaking his head on the bench."
Malkin now has 13 goals and 30 points in 29 games, which is well off his scoring pace from last season when he tallied 28 points and 77 points in 67 contests.
Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers are also on a bit of an offensive outburst. Marty Reasoner scored twice in Florida’s 6-2 win over Buffalo on Friday before the Panthers shocked Philadelphia 5-0 on Monday.

Pick: Over

Vancouver Canucks at Detroit Red Wings (-145, 5.5)

You can see a lot of maturity in the Vancouver Canucks this season and Ryan Kesler is a good example of that.

When he broke into the league he wasn’t much more than an annoying pest on the ice that had some offensive upside, he’s now a threat to score on every shift. Now Kesler, who assisted in the birth of his second child on Sunday, sits first on the team with 97 shots and trails only the Sedin twins with 26 points in 31 games.

"He's just focused on playing the game with his heart, and putting everything on the line every shift," associate coach Rick Bowness said. "And not worrying about trying to distract people, getting verbal. Because most of that is a distraction for you, as well. You just put your focus on playing the game hard. Putting as much passion into the game."

That added depth makes everything easier for Vancouver. The Canucks have been much better on the road this year and have won their last four heading into Tuesday’s game at Joe Louis Arena and a major reason for their recent 9-1-1 run has been the club’s defensive play.

The Red Wings are heading in the other direction. They are looking to avoid their seventh loss in 10 games on Wednesday.

Pick: Canucks

Boise St. (-17.0) 35 Utah 21 (at Las Vegas Bowl)
05:00 PM Pacific, 22-Dec-10
I’ll lean with Utah at +16 points or less and I’ll lean with the Under at 59 or higher, which looks like the better play given the likely windy conditions of Vegas in December, which make it tougher to throw the ball.

4* UTAH over BOISE STATE

Here is where the marketplace has a major problem with Boise. While the debate lingered all season as to whether or not the Broncos deserved to be in the BCS hunt, it kept their power rating at a premium. As such they now are being called on to get a substantial margin vs. a quality opponent, and the question is the simplest one just where is the evidence of such abilities? Yes, Chris Peterson coaches his team as well as anyone anywhere, and Boise plays with fundamental soundness all over the field. But is the talent really such that this spread is warranted? We do not see it.

Boise had two significant challenges away from the blue turf this season, having to score with 1:07 remaining to get past good, but not great, Virginia Tech 33-30 in Landover to open, and then losing that dramatic O.T. affair vs. Nevada in Reno the day after Thanksgiving. Not only does it bring a dearth of resume points, but also a lack of experience going up against teams of your own class at the line of scrimmage, which is their most dominant area vs. the soft WAC opposition they face. Now the line is calling for a crescendo point based on both their talent and their focus, and neither is a guarantee a trip to rainy Las Vegas has hardly turned into a travel treat, and with only 18 days since their last regular season game, there was not a lot of down time to get physically or mentally refreshed.

Utah was also over-rated early in the season, clearly being out-classed when it became showdown time vs. T.C.U. But the Utes were 4-1 SU in their other five games against bowl teams, and bring a physical toughness and fundamental soundness that makes them difficult to put out of a game. They were #23 in the nation in scoring defense, #20 in total defense and #8 against the run, so they are not going to be pushed around, and they will bring much more confidence than we usually find from an underdog in this price range there is that most impressive streak of nine consecutive bowl wins that they bring, a run that includes such impressive showings as that wire-to-wire 31-17 win over Alabama as +9.5 in the Sugar Bowl two years ago. Even the absence of QB Jordan Wynn is not as big a factor as the markets are making it to be, with SR Terrance Cain bringing plenty of experience, and a 9-1 SU record when in a starting role. Look for the Utes to attack with Matt Asiata between the tackles to start the game, negating some of that Boise speed on defense and forcing the Broncos to have to deal with the rarity of an opponent running right at them, and after that defense allowed 269 rushing yards to Nevada and 250 to Utah State in the last two games, there is a vulnerability that keeps the underdog in the hunt for a long time.

3* BOISE STATE/UTAH UNDER

We are also involved in the Total in this one. They are pricing the game as a track meet despite what will likely be soggy conditions, with several days of rain leading up, including flash flood warnings across Clark County. With two defenses that do not show a weakness anywhere, especially in terms of allowing big plays (Utah gave up two TD's on plays of more than 40 yards; Boise only one), both offenses are forced to work the chains for what they can get, and their fundamental soundness also prevents cheap points from being given away.

Wednesday's Best Bowl Bet

Las Vegas Bowl: Utah Utes vs. Boise State Broncos (-17, 60.5)

Ranked teams see their first bowl action of the year when the No. 20 Utah Utes take on the No. 10 ranked Boise State Broncos in the MAACO Bowl in Las Vegas. The latest college football odds posted for this game, have the Broncos favored by a whopping 17 points with a total posted at 60 points.

When these two teams meet at Sam Boyd Stadium, Boise State will be looking to end the year on a high note after their disappointing loss to Nevada that derailed their hopes for an undefeated season.

The Broncos are led on the field by Heisman candidate quarterback Kellen Moore and a high powered offense. Moore ranks as one of the nation's best quarterbacks and is highly regarded by many as its best true passer. Ranking third nationally in completion percentage (71.01), Moore has thrown for 3,506 yards and 33 touchdowns, and is the heart and soul of the Broncos.

The Broncos are known for their great offense but they also have a tough defense that is allowing 13.6 points per game, fourth lowest in the country.

The Broncos won a share of the conference title and it was Boise's eighth conference championship in as many years in the WAC. Even with a conference championship under their belt, the Broncos have to be unhappy about not playing in a BCS bowl game considering they spent the better part of the year on top of the rankings.

Utah had a similar experience as they started the season 8-0 and crept into the higher part of the rankings only to lose a pivotal game against TCU. From there they went into a tailspin and recovered just in time beat their rival, BYU. The Utes enter this game with a nine game bowl winning streak on the line that could be in jeopardy against Boise State. The Utes will have to try and win as 17 point underdogs without their starting quarterback.

Quarterback B Jordan Wynn was knocked out in the team's final game against the BYU Cougars, and he is extremely doubtful to be able to give it a go in this one. Terrance Cain will get the nod for the Utes and he looked horrid in relief of Wynn against BYU throwing two interceptions.

The Broncos are 39-15-1 ATS against a team with a winning record and 41-20-1 ATS in their last 62 non-conference games. The Utes are 1-4 against the spread (ATS) in their last five games and will have trouble keeping pace with the Broncos.

BTB's Pick: Boise State -17

PICK 'N' ROLL

Wednesday's Best NBA Bets

New Jersey Nets at New Orleans Hornets (-9, 182)

New Orleans granted guard Willie Green a leave of absence to be with his family. Not to sound heartless, but isn’t that a bit redundant?

If you haven’t noticed the entire Hornets team has checked out. New Orleans is just 5-11 straight up and against the spread since opening the season on an 8-0 tear. Monday night was the latest setback with the Bugs falling to the hosting Pacers 94-93.

"We've always felt this roster was built for times like this,” Hornets coach Monty Williams told the New Orleans Times Picayune. “I'm saying stuff. Chris [Paul] is saying the tough stuff, but we need other guys to step up.''

The problem with the Hornets is that their wing players couldn't toss a ball in the ocean with the way they’re shooting the rock right now.

Trevor Ariza shot 1 for 13 against Indiana and finished the two-game road trip by making just 3 of 25 from the field. It’s no surprise the under is 15-2 in New Orleans’ last 17 ball games.

New Jersey doesn’t have many point producers on its roster either so expect another snorefest on Wednesday.

Pick: Under

Oklahoma City Thunder at New York Knicks (pick, 218)

A three-game losing skid has sucked all the life out of the Knicks. Sure, New York gave the C’s all they could handle and Mike D’Antoni’s guys kept things close in the first half against the Heat but there’s no excusing their overtime loss to the Cavaliers.

It’ll be a challenge putting an end to the cold streak against the Thunder. Oklahoma City possesses athletic wing players and should match up well against the Knicks.

The key battle will be between Serge Ibaka and Amar’e Stoudemire. Ibaka has the speed and jumping ability to keep up with Stoudemire at the defensive end, but African native also has a tendency to get into foul trouble.

The Thunder will get abused down low if they have to put Nenad Krstic or Nick Collison on Stoudemire for long stretches of the game.

Pick: New York Knicks

Wednesday's Best NCAABB Bets

No. 22 Texas Longhorns at No. 12 Michigan St. Spartans (-5.5, 141)

The Spartans weren’t happy about the one-game suspension coach Tom Izzo served for violating NCAA rules after the school employed someone that was associated with a possible recruit. The Spartans took out their frustrations on the Prairie View A&M Panthers with a 91-50 beatdown on Saturday.

Izzo was pleased with the performance from the outside looking in, but will need to get right back at it Wednesday as the Spartans continue their tough non-conference schedule.

MSU hasn’t covered the last two times the club saw a pointspread, though Izzo doesn’t feel like any problems his team has had so far stem from a lack of talent.

"I think this will be arguably the best team we've brought in here in a few years," Izzo told reporters. "I think it's the most talented team that we might've played all year so far, as far as NBA basketball athlete talent."

The Spartans hope to have a healthy lineup against Texas after Korie Lucious aggravated an ankle injury and Keith Appling whacked his head in the first half of Saturday’s win and didn’t return.

Texas is coming off an impressive 78-76 win at North Carolina as a 3.5-point underdog, but will have its hands full against an inspired MSU club.

Pick: Michigan State Spartan

No. 21 Illinois Fighting Illini at No. 10 Missouri Tigers (1.5, 148.5)

If Illinois was looking to build some momentum with a matchup against UIC ahead of Wednesday’s Braggin’ Rights game against the Tigers, so much for that.

The Illini dropped a 57-54 decision to the Illinois-Chicago Flames on Saturday, stunning coach Bruce Weber.

“You talk about a lump of coal for Christmas — we got that,” Weber told reporters. “We had an edge early in the season, but we’ve slipped a little. It looks like we have lost our sense of urgency.

“We had too many guys who didn’t play well Saturday.”

That much is for sure. The Illini were pegged as 16.5-point favorites in that game, which turned out to be the third consecutive game that they failed to cover the number.

After the latest loss Weber’s crew showed up to Sunday’s practice early and stayed late after to try to get past it, but it’s going to take more than a few extra minutes on the floor to make that much of a difference.

Mizzou reinstated suspended starting point guard Michael Dixon on Tuesday so he should be available, though coach Mike Anderson wouldn’t say if he would start.

This is going to be a grind-it-out battle.

Game Of The Day

No. 19 Utah vs. No. 11 Boise State (-17, 60)

Notable Quotable

“I think some egos clashed, and no one was going to back down. It’s something we’ll use as motivation, to keep it to ourselves until we get onto the field. I’m kind of disappointed I got gypped out of half a massage.” – Boise State linebacker J.C. Percy on getting pulled out of a massage when some pushing and shoving broke out during the welcome reception for the Broncos and Utes on Sunday in Las Vegas.

Tips And Notes

Utah quarterback Terrance Cain threw two interceptions in two possessions the last time he was on the field against BYU. Cain was pulled after the second pick, but the Utes are expected to lean more on the running game to help the senior finish his college career on a better note.

Ben Gordon has overtaken Richard Hamilton as Detroit’s starting shooting guard. In four starts this season, Gordon averaged better than 20 points with four rebounds and three steals. Gordon is now Detroit’s No. 1 scoring option, while Hamilton, who has been cited as a distraction on the team, will come off the pine. Suspended Mizzou starting point guard Michael Dixon has been reinstated in time to play in Wednesday's Braggin' Rights game against Illinois. Coach Mike Anderson confirmed the swirling rumors late Tuesday afternoon. Dixon had missed the club's last two games due to an unspecified violation of team rules.
